Consider both the plant and the space.

• For the Plant: A good rule of thumb is to choose a planter that is 1-2 inches larger in diameter than the plant's current pot. This allows for growth without overshooting, which can lead to root rot.
• For the Space: Measure the area where the planter will go. For a statement piece, a large planter works well. In a tight corner, a taller, narrower planter might be better. Always ensure there is proportional balance between the planter, the plant, and the surrounding furniture.
